Personal computer support specialists install computer hardware and software, interpret and resolve problems for users, and provide technical support for hardware, software and systems.
Programmers design, write and update computer programs or software using programming languages such as C, Objective-C, C++, C#, Java and Visual Basic.NET. They perform these tasks for a wide variety of platforms that include Apple and Windows desktop; Apple, Windows and Android mobile; and Web.
Web developers design, code, test and debug Web-based programs and media to create, publish and maintain websites. They integrate graphics, text and digital audio/video using both server-side and client-side technologies to develop rich Internet applications and Web services.

Computer support positions are in increased demand as organizations upgrade outdated hardware, software and network equipment and require more knowledgeable professionals to respond to user questions.
Workforce Solutions of Greater Dallas’s targeted occupations projects 11 separate IT positions as high growth areas, with the largest number of openings for software developers, nearly 16,000. High job growth is also projected for information systems managers, programmers, systems analysts, database administrators, computer support technicians, information security analysts, computer specialists, computer maintenance technicians and graphic designers.
America’s Career Infonet lists Web developer and computer network support specialist among its fastest-growing occupations for the coming decade.For jobs requiring at least an associate degree, Web developer is among its fastest-growing occupations and careers with the most job openings through 2022.
U.S. News and World Report’s Money Careers’ lists information security analysts as its fastest-growing technology job this decade with projected growth of 36.5 percent. Its best technology jobs include software developer, computer systems analyst, information security analyst, Web developer, IT manager, computer systems administrator, database administrator, programmer and computer support specialist.
